day eight of 12 hours and they are forming what appear to be enormous buds - but then I'm stoned?

I built up the EC for the last ten days until day before yesterday hit 2.0, every day EC is less than the day before - actually, never had plants use nutrients so agressively before? I know too because I'm using the same hydroponic set up, same size tank, that I've used for years? Maybe it's th BudXL doing what it is advertised to do? Wow, could it be something actually works? It would be at 2.0 late in the afternoon and at 1.7 the next morning and using a steady gallon and half of water a day, four plants.

The solitary Skunk "1 stretched a lot more when the lights were flipped and now towers over the LSD's which are fairly uniform with very tight internode spacing, responding well to the Bushmaster. In the future with the Skunk #1 I would hit it earlier with the Bushmaster, at least if using my using system so limited on space

so today after ten days I check it and it has gone from 1.7 yesterday to 1.9 - whoops, wrong way so I immediately flushed. I find this a key with hydro and if you see the system stop using nutrient whether by EC or PPM or however measured, then it is time to flush. It sounds all technical but is easy. Works the same way in grow just looking for an easy, steady as she goes, with plants using nutrients and water with a flush at least every two weeks or when nutrients stop being absorbed.

This was a fun documentary, maybe especially for older smokers!

(grow log - day 25 "state of the grow" assessment) You're never too old to experiment with drugs

        6/29/09
        Day 25 flowering

NOTE: leaf curl worse on plants closest to light? Effected leaf starting to feel dry. I’ve been running pretty low nutrient levels bud a f full dose of the new BudXL? At next flush back off of BudXL and see if that helps? ))) 5 days since last flush ((( and highest EC was 1.7 and plants are using nutrient and water. Also, need to lower temps and plants which mends bending buds - I’d like to wait another week or so before bending but will have to do it today. I’ll also buy another in-line fan to further the light heat exhaust. Could have effect to further maturation - reduction in temp; light (bending and removal of liquid light) removal of BudXL, an enzyme that increases uptake of nutrient and also increases sugar transfer to buds. It certainly appears to be working but the Liquid Light increasing photosynthesis overall (and possible giving them “too much light,”) in combination with a 400 watt sodium light in such a small cabinet, in combination with boosted uptake due to BudXL additive in combination, with too much heat from Sodium light - all working together. But the buds are damn fat for only day 25 so I'm not complaining merely understanding: hum, what are the Girls trying to "say" to me. I am seeing them, not simply looking at them; listening to them, not simply hearing them. The Girls will tell me more precisely than a "paint-by-numbers" blanket instruction like, "do this at three weeks, and that at four weeks". Like they'll tell me when to give them suger, when their show signs of really drawing into themselves late in flowering, that's when I'll hit 'em with BudXL and Shooting Star and hopefully they'll suck up every last drop of THC and Cannabinoids into the big, fat buds.

Luckily, I kept everything else right in line! But seriously, it is seldom one thing that gets you but multiple issues. Too much is often the problem with hydroponics especially when using very efficient systems the nutrient uptake is so efficient that a “normal” dose of nutrient can cause burn. I’ve kind of anticipated this and have been going low with nutrient all along, only hitting a max of EC 2.0 during flowering and then only after building up from day one of routine 10-14 day flush to a high of 2.0 on day five or six and then I let it go back down only adding more bloom if the EC falls below 1.4. (usually I run the nutrients really high, like just flush one day and bam right up to 2.0 the next and over 3.0 the next for the whole first four weeks of budding) Looking at them, now is good time to reduce nutrient levels with just a little but constant reduction in nutrient EC saturation, it helps them in bud signaling, especially when combined with increase in dark - 12 hours dark to 12:30 all the way to 14 hours dark last week and three days totall dark right at the end, combined with reduction of temperature.

By tracking system usage of EC, it has been using nutrients and water steadily. It is simply a matter of measuring intake and out-take and the difference is what the plants are sucking up for dinner. I’ve only seen the EC not drop after 10-14 days as it should from salt build up. So appears that the system is running smoothly and the plants are doing grandly except for the minor leaf curl. By the book, harvest date would be pretty much 30 days from now, but I think they will come in earlier. I’ll be cutting lights back during last three weeks or so, something I never do, and I’ll lose some weight on the buds but should be able to bring them in maybe ten days sooner. Another experiment, also I have to keep plants inside cabinet because of all I have going on around here and coming up.

The fact that they have almost no odor is a happy coincidence.

the LSD that I cut on two weeks ago has experienced some stretch and is sure enough packing bud onto crown cola, also, the two remaining branches that I left are packing it on. It is now a little behind the other two, not as dense and not showing cystals yet. We'll see but I imagine now it will continue to lag slightly behind the other two.
I'm just getting color change in Skunk #1 which is right on time since the literature says it matures a week sooner than the LSD.In a week the LSD will starting showing some color change on the budleaf. When I see some change in all of them, that's when I'll hit them with the Shooting Star formula. The product instrusts three weeks before harvest but I prefer to go by the plants signal rather than this paint by numbers approach. But it will mostly likely work out to just about three weeks in this case. Usually I wait until I see some stress on t
he leaf and then start a flush as the plant is naturally starting to draw from itself but this time I'm going to keep hitting it with the shooting star and use final flush for a quick three day flush. Usually I'm not quite this fussy but with a first commerical grow looming I'm really paying attention.
